Maximum Age Pension Rates

As of the latest update, the maximum full Age Pension for eligible individuals is:

• $1,116.30 per fortnight for singles

• $841.40 per fortnight each for couples (combined total of $1,682.80)

These figures include the Pension Supplement and Energy Supplement, which help cover the cost of living.

Note: Rates are updated twice a year—on 20 March and 20 September—so it’s important to check current figures when planning.

Income Test

Centrelink applies an income test to determine how much pension you can receive. You can earn a certain amount before your payment is affected:

• Singles can earn up to $204 per fortnight

• Couples (combined) can earn up to $360 per fortnight

Earnings above these thresholds reduce your pension by 50 cents for every dollar over the limit. Some income, such as from superannuation income streams, is also assessed depending on the type and amount.

Assets Test

Centrelink also applies an assets test, which looks at the value of things you own (excluding your principal home):

• Singles homeowner: Full pension if assets are below $301,750

• Couples homeowner: Full pension if combined assets are below $451,500

Above these thresholds, your pension reduces by $3.00 per fortnight for every $1,000 in assets over the limit.
