Do Superannuation Savings Count Towards the Assets Test?
Yes – but only once you’ve reached Age Pension age.
If you’re under Age Pension age, your super is generally exempt from the Assets Test, as long as it’s in the accumulation phase. But once you hit pension age, Centrelink will count your superannuation as part of your assessable assets—even if you’re not drawing any income from it.
✅ Still under pension age? Your super is not assessed (yet)
✅ Your partner’s super is exempt if they’re under pension age
🚫 Over pension age? Your super is counted—so plan ahead!
